Clarion Call for Fun! I Went to Vegas Baby!

Work Hard, Play Hard, that’s the way the saying goes right? We’ve said it, all have lived it attempted to live it, but let me tell you something!! It's so true! I suggest you make this your  life’s’ motto. Its definitely one of mine!

I'm making the following a mandate, a clarion call, a affirmation, ready, repeat after me:

I MUST TRAVEL! I MUST KICK IT! I MUST LIVE MY LIFE AND HAVE FUN PERIOD.

Listen, I don’t want to tell you what to do and don’t get me wrong ,I love what I do, as I am sure you love what you do. However, I equally love hitting the dance floor, throwing back a brewski or two and having fun (fun meaning involving myself and whomever else in my party in pure foolishness)! It’s so important to take time for YOURSELF, in fact I consider it VITAL to ensure that you have a sustainable creative practice and business.

For the past few days I have been doing just that, celebrating one my best friends Danielle’s 30^th birthday in no other than…Las Vegas!!!

This was my second time visiting the “Sin City” (the first time was a lot more mild than this time) and I love this city!

The locals are happy and us tourists are there to kick back, drink, eat, and spend our money! BAM!  If you have never been to Vegas I would suggest you add it on your list of places to go, its just that fun! Especially if you like to party as much as I do!  I really had a blast, and I could go on and on with the foolishness, my girlfriends Lee and Danielle got into but you know how it goes… what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

So the moral of this post if you haven’t scheduled a vacation for yourself do so right away. You deserve it!

Where I'll Be... February Events

Happy February!!! 1 month down 11 more to go! Actually, I'm not going to think about it like that I have very open welcoming arms for 2011 and I am excited that all is to come with it. January was soo busy right? At least for me it was. APA had lots of great events that if you were involved in the photo community I hope you were able to check out. I didnt have time to post them here (Sorry!!! I know I said I would, Im trying to do better, hence this post!) So anyway here we are February! The month of love, BLACK HISTORY MONTH! This month is a tease as it only lasts 28days. and there is a lot going on! 

Outside of hanging out with the photography community I ama regular girl that loves to hang out and chill with the sexy people of Chicago and have a good time.  Here are a few places that I will be stopping through this month and if you are around you should defeiunitly do the same!

Friday Feb 4, FIRST FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE!! presented by 80s Babies! Remeka and Jermaine some of the coolest kids I know and there parties are fun! I dont get to them as much as I would like but I def plan to be there tomorrow!! So you should come through too! FREE from 9-10 when you say 80s babies, after that $5

Friday, Feb 4 , THE MASHUP'S at Rodan with Kennedy Ashinze from Casa DeSoul & Josh Deep.Kennedy and I have worked together for his new editorial project and these mashups have been my first Friday home for the past 2 or 3 months. If you like deep house music this is  a great spot to be. Its at Rodan and there is NO COVER! I will be here too!

Wednesday, Feb 16, APA/ASMP BAR Night. This is a great place to come and kickback mix and mingle with photographers, producers, reps, makeup and  hairstylists..All the photo community comes out to have fun and chat it up. Its Free! ProGear buy appetizers and the Clutch bar give $1 off drinks! Good Times indeed!

Sunday February 13, ASMP Chicago/Midwest Brunch Meeting, Another great social event for the photo community!! This particular Sunday we are going to check out the Windy City Rollers after!! I've never been to the roller derby so I'm excited for this one. Brunch is free to ASMP Members. It all starts at 10am at the Stanleys on Racine

Thursday February 24, I'm most looking forward to seeing Deborah Willis at DuSable Museum as she Examines Race & Photography in African American Imagery. Check this out for sure!! Details Here

Okay I think that's a good start I know there is a hip hop show or two that I am missing in this list but I will add those soon enough!!

The Best Website EVER!

Happy June!

WOW! Is it me or do the days seem really long?,Its so crazy because all while having these long(yet very productive, sometimes) days the months seem to be zipping past.
So you know my regular deal, very busy, Harrington is great! Sorry its been so long since Ive posted. This month I have alot of things that I am focusing on, most of them health but business/socially I am all about enusring that I follow thorugh. Last month I seemed to be so busy with everything, small things slipped thorugh the cracks. I am human, so I am not going to press it to hard, but also I am not going to slip again. So If I have committed to this blog I am going to post to this blog. Simple. Its all about time management really. So we will see how it goes.

So, I really had to share this awesome website with you. WGN-TV Channel 9 morning news shared this site during the "Surfin the Web" Segment. WGN's morning news is the best news program hands down. I love it, they are so silly and I get all the news.

This website has all the foolish and ignorant family photos I have ever seen. With some of these portraits, it makes me wonder why the photographer thought these poses would be flattering or fun. Its just silly LOL . Here are some of my favorites:

Now why would the photographer suggest the brother and mother lay on top of their sisters? See what I mean, silly. LOL

This is an engagement photograph! Can you imagine getting this on a Save the Date Card, and the thing is this couple I am sure paid good money for these picures. Being on the board of ASMP Chicago/Midwest. Please lets practice not only best business practices but you have to give your clients great results. These people look like they are on the run. Saving the best for last, this is one of the reasons why when high school friends would call and ask me to take pictures of them and there gangsta boyfriends, I would have to say no. Why you ask, becuase they want images like this......
